international students
Time to Apply!
Many Global Christian students are from international countries and provides the students the ability to earn a degree. Some students are located in the United States on visas or as permanent residents. Other students study from their foreign locations without needing to apply for a student visa or incurring the cost of immigration. Many international students have joined us in going deeper in the word of God.

F-1 student visas
Pending Government Approval!
NCBC is pursuing approval to issue F-1 student visas. This would allow full-time students to live in the United States and attend our Bay Area, California campus.
All F-1 visa students need to be enrolled in either 6 units of graduate-level courses or 12 units of undergraduate-level courses to be considered full-time. They must attend weekly classes at our campus in the Bay Area. Undergraduates must attend three in-person classes and graduate students must attend two in-person classes. Undergraduates and graduates may take extra online classes after their in-person requirements are fulfilled if they desire to graduate sooner.
Considerations
There are a few things international students must consider before pursuing a student visa:
- There is an in-person requirement, meaning you cannot take online classes (undergraduates may take one online class per quarter). This means being physically present in the Bay Area of California for 12-weeks at a time during the quarter.
- If you are not a U.S. citizen and are taking online classes, this will not qualify you for a visa or for work authorization in the U.S.
- Internationals students coming from a country where English is not the primary language will need to demonstrate language proficiency by getting an appropriate score on the TOEFL exam.
- Not all countries will accept an online degree. All international students must work with your country’s department of education or any licensing bodies to ensure that an online degree is right for you.
Student responsibility
We do our best to provide as much information about international authorization and licensure. It is ultimately the student’s responsibility to understand the requirements of their country and how the degree will be accepted in their country. Students should verify with any department of education or oversight commission of their field of work to ensure the degree will carry meaning for their context. Any foreign taxes for the education is left up to the student.
International Students in the U.S.
International students already residing in the U.S. can either take in-person classes or online classes. Here are a few options:
1. If you already reside in the U.S. with some form of visa or residency approval, you may take classes either in-person or online. If you are taking online classes then NCBC follows state approval process for each individual state (please see our guidelines for each state.)
2. Pending Government Approval! NCBC is pursuing approval to issue F-1 student visas. If you want a F-1 student visa from NCBC please let us know at admissions@globalcu.edu. This means physically attending classes in the Bay Area, CA.
*Scholarships most likely will not be available to international students.
What credits can I transfer from international colleges?
All transcripts from non-U.S. schools are assessed for equivalency. In many cases, the student will be required to have a third-party evaluate the transcripts for equivalency to the U.S. system.
We try to maximize your previous educational journey and give the shortest route to degree completion. Submission of official transcripts will be needed upon admission to the college to account for transferable units. Transcripts should be sent to admissions@globalcu.edu.

Note: NCBC receives units through from these institution that count toward our graduation requirements. These units will not be issued separately or enumerated on transcripts for students who transfer away from NCBC before finishing their degree.

TOEFL English Exam
Should an individual for whom English is not their first language and without a high school diploma apply, this student is required to take the TOEFLiBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-Based Test) and achieve a score of 90 out of 120 or higher. This requirement is in addition to the other requirements listed in this policy. Many of our students live internationally and still take distance courses.
International Online students

Students living internationally
Students residing in non-U.S. countries may attend online classes if their government allows. Many nations will allow their students to access online classes and pursue an American degree. It is the student’s responsibility to understand how the degree is accepted in their home region, how their country collects student data, and whether there are taxes in that country.
Some countries will not recognize a U.S. online degree, so all foreign students should check with the country’s government about their future employment and educational opportunities. If a student wants to be licensed or certified in some way in their home country they will need to check with their country to find out if the U.S. online degree will be accepted.
*See suggestions from other online programs at U.S. colleges.
Countries
This list of countries does not mean that the degree has approval or effecifacy in that country. This is a list of country locations that can access distance classes in accordance with the government allowance of online education on their soil.
