president’s welcome

Global Christian University’s 50+ years of academic and spiritual training have been defined by the motto, “Pursuing the Spirit and the Word”. Many of our graduates have planted churches, labored on the mission field, served in staff positions at their church, or simply brought a deeper understanding of the Word of God and the ministry of Christ’s Kingdom to the sphere they labor in. Around 2014, Global Christian began the national accreditation journey with TRACS, a US Dept. of Education recognized accreditor, and we obtained full accreditation in 2021.

My association with Global Christian started in 2019, with the idea of bringing ministry activation courses to the college. President Emeritus David Sell and Head of Faculty, Dr. Dan Griffiths, along with Dr. Tracy Holsclaw (now Chief Academic Officer), and I hashed out three new courses on prophecy, healing in Jesus’ name, and the Holy Spirit and Freedom which was taught in the 2020-2021 academic year which was followed by a year of serving in the administration side of the college. In July of 2022, I accepted the invitation of Emeritus David Sell and the Board of Trustees of Global Christian.

My personal and professional hope for anyone I meet is that 1) they have an encounter with God’s love and presence, 2) they are equipped with the Word and with faith in the Spirit of God, and 3) they feel empowered and released into the world, activated in their gifts and callings from the Lord. It is my pleasure to serve the students, staff, faculty, and supporters each day with the hope and message of Christ, the encouragement and blessings found in God’s Word, and to mentor deeper partnership with Holy Spirit as we walk in faith with the Lord.

2025

Since the beginning of Global Christian University in 1971 (then called Northern California Bible College), we have been impacting generations of students, many of whom has gone on to plant churches, labor on the mission field, serve in staff positions at their church, or teach in one of the many venues of Christian Service.

After 54 years from our founding, the Board of Directors, along with President Emeritus David Sell, felt led by the Lord to to rename the college. We felt it was time to listen to God for the next 50 year, and that prayerful journey ended in the April 2025 announcement that
Northern California Bible College is now Global Christian University!

This isn’t just a name change—it’s a renewed declaration of who we are, what we value, and where God is calling us. Our new name honors our 50-plus-year legacy while effectively communicating our global vision, academic rigor, and our unwavering spiritual foundation. It positions Global Christian University as a leader in Spirit-empowered, Christ-centered education, where theological education meets practical ministry and leadership development.

But while the name and look are new, our mission and values remain unchanged as we “educate and empower generations of students who together, through the Word and by the Spirit, transform the world for Christ’s glory.”

We continue to stand on the foundation laid by faithful leaders like founding pastor Ernest Gentile and President Emeritus David Sell, guided by our motto:

“Pursuing the Spirit and the Word”

I welcome you to Global Christian University, an inspiring community full of equipping, belonging, support, purpose, and transformation.

President Emeritus’ Message (David Sell)

President Emeritus David Sell
“Our off-site distance learning-center has been designed to accommodate the working student who faces both time and distance restrictions.”

My personal association with Global Christian started in 1971 has allowed me to become involved in the lives of numerous students who have impacted their generation for Christ. Many of our graduates have planted churches, labored on the mission field, served in staff positions at their church, or taught in one of the many venues of Christian Service. A major shift in purpose occurred in 1999, when Global Christian went online and developed an off-site distance-learning program.

Throughout the past 49 years we have tried to maintain an evangelical yet contemporary approach to the study of the Bible, while believing in the present-day activity of the Holy Spirit. If you are sensing the call to increase your biblical knowledge, or perhaps ‘tool-up’ for a future career in ministry, Global Christian University can help provide you with a strong biblical foundation at a very reasonable price.
