Historical Books
The historical books of the Bible include Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 & 2 Samuel, 1 & 2 Kings, 1 & 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther. The history starts with the early years of the nation of Israel under the leadership of Joshua, shortly after the forming of the new nation under Moses leadership. The history books span the time of the Judges and Kings, with notable figures like King Saul, King David, and King Hezekiah. The nation ends up in exile by both the Assyrian and the Babylonia enemies. After the exile, Ezra and Nehemiah pick up on the historical accounts of rebuilding Jerusalem and the second temple.
